Healthy Communities Information

This past fall (2011), during the annual healthy communities conference (Réseau québécois de villes et villages en santé : RQVVS) a workshop was held in English on Building vital communities based on culture, heritage and language. The town of Stanstead (in the Eastern Townships) hosted the workshop, providing a beautiful meeting place in an old chapel, a lovely lunch and an interesting tour of the village afterwards.

In addition to a range of participants from the CHSSN network, some community development workers, and some municipal councillors, we were fortunate to also have the coordinators of the healthy communities networks of other provinces: British Columbia, Ontario and New Brunswick. They each presented what their network does, how it is organized and some of the projects it is currently working on. In addition, Jennifer Johnson presented the work of the CHSSN, which we concluded is a sort of healthy communities network for English-speakers in Quebec. We also had some presentations from regional intiatives in Quebec.

Here are a few of those presentations if you want to take a peek. There is lots of good information to glean! You can also visit the VVS website at: http://rqvvs.qc.ca/
